My hometown, Cagayan de Oro aka CdeO, metro CdeO, City of Golden Friendship

Situated along northern Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro is bounded by Brgy. Bulua at the west and Brgy. Bugo at the east. I dont know the total land area, but its quite small. Total population may be is around 300T-400T. It now has 2 districts, I & II, with the Cagayan de Oro river as partition (more money to make by the politicians... lol). Now, it has many working bridges 4 and 1 near completion (i hope) unlike in the 90's 2 bridges only, which causes heavy traffic. St. Augustine is our city saint and we celebrate our fiesta every 28th of August. St. augustine Church is our biggest catheral located beside the river. Currently it has 3 universities XU (Ateneo de Cagayan), LDCU and CU, XU (my alma mater, am blue blooded) as the first university here in CdeO. MOGCHS has the biggest population of HS students here, my father went here. City Central School has the highest number of elementary students. It also has one big public hospital namely Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) and another small public hospital, City Hospital which refers patients to NMMC (what the heck). But private hospitals also are sprouting here, like Polymedic, Medical, Maria Reyna and CU hospital looks like a hotel rather than a hospital, it also has the first linear radiation therapy here in CdeO. There are 3 malls here, Limketkai, Gisano and SM, which you can easily go through all in just a day (hehehehe). Theres no such a thing sa tourist spot here, you can go to Malasag where Ecovillage is located which is a man made spot but i think its losing profit now. A few kilometers away from is Mapawa Park, a private park that has canopy walk, a small falls and and zipline . Opol beach is just a 20 minute drive in the next town. One famous attraction here is the white water rafting (highly recommended, what a adrenaline rush) which cost around 400/person about 3-5 hours ride with midrange rapids, starting from mambuaya near the airport. If your from CdeO you must try this. Your guides are professional and safety is their concern. I have never heard of any major accident that happen during rafting (thank God). Try this before the river is completely polluted and gone. Another attraction here also is the Nite Cafe and Nite market. It happens every friday and saturday which starts aroud 5 pm until 2am. It is an open market (okay-okay) and like a big open restaurant (sinugba, inum hehehe) with different vendors around our main plaza, DV Dosoria. Theres also Initao national park about 40 minutes from the city like a small forest where there is canopy walk, zipline, cliff diving bird watching and swimming on the white sand beach. Spalanking can be done at Sumalsag cave, about an hour and 1/2 trek underground, along bukidnon. There is also a 100-120 foot drop canopy walk located at Claveria a 20 minute drive from CdeO, there are 5 platforms that you can transfer and ending with a zipline. There is also Divine Mercy at El Salvador City, 30 minutes ride from the city, where a big statue of Jesus is located. Many religious people go there and some claimed that miracles had happen there. Natural cool water springs and an island or reef (for dive enthusiast) can be found 20 minutes from the city located at Jasaan. There is also a mini zoo Loacated at Sugbongcogon called Mantianak. For the young at heart there are also gimik spots here mostly along DV Soria. For people not from here there are hotels around the city which are I think at reasonble prices. For the budget conscious inns are located around the city. Our international airport is also starting its construction whicch caters flight local flights nyahahaha. i dont know yet which international flich are going to land here or come from here, maybe Kitaotao, Kibawe, Wao, Maranding, Kapatagan, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Afganistan and North Korea (hahaha, nice destinations). just recently also fast crafts have cater again trips from Cagayan to Camiguin and vice-versa which cost around 500 pesos one way.
Ey, what more can I say about my city, I've almost wash my brains out thinking things to put that are interesting around my city( mga tga CdeO, feel free to add things). Its small yet it packs alot of excitement. As they say good things come in small packages. First pic is Ysalina bridge linking carmen and the center, oldest bridge here. So mga pips ' til next time.
